About AWDT

Empowering Women, Driving Change.

The Abirami Women Development Trust (AWDT), a registered non-profit organization based in Trichy, Tamil Nadu aimed at empowering economically disadvantaged women, girls, and transgender individuals. AWDT has a strong track record of empowering vulnerable groups, including women, girls, and transgender individuals, through various initiatives in education, health, and livelihood development.

Established in 2009, the Trust is dedicated to uplifting those from socially deprived and economically backward communities.

AWDT is proud to offer free driving classes to marginalized women in Trichy. By equipping them with the skills to drive, maintain vehicles, and provide exceptional customer service, we're empowering them to become independent taxi drivers and secure their livelihoods.

In Trichy, Tamil Nadu, marginalized groups like widows, deserted women, single parents' daughters, and transgender individuals face challenges due to financial instability, limited education, and social stigma. These factors restrict their access to stable employment, forcing them into low-paying jobs.

The commercial vehicle sector, especially driving and maintenance, offers potential employment opportunities, but access to professional training in this field is limited. We aim to address the gap by providing intensive training and promoting self-employment opportunities like collective call taxi services.

By breaking the cycle of poverty and dependence, the initiative contributes to long-term social and economic uplift.

Our driving classes help them secure a job in the commercial taxi sector in Trichy. We are particular about providing the best of our services with a simulator, yoga & meditation classes, and customer engagement etiquette.
